Picking a Good Guest Star is Tough - 3/5
Rising Yeovilton rapper Josh Frankpitt (who goes by the alias of Plodge) hugely impressed me earlier in the year with his release of his Onwards EP, and since has been endorsed by Hold True Clothing. After talking to me, he revealed his latest single to be released called “Be the One” and uses his style of having a featured guest on his track. In this case, it’s Connor Solle.
Personally, I love most of this track. It has a soft flowing organ sample over quiet drums and very smooth rapping over it to give it the emotive vibe which works perfectly. The lyrics again as stated in my previous review are penned greatly. Sadly, it’s let down by Connor Solle who’s apparent ‘singing’sounds more like a cat scratching its claws down an old fashioned blackboard.Once is fine, twice is a mere piss take.
Once again, it is safe to say that Plodge once again fascinates me with his lyrical style, but the only advice for next time is to pick a guest who can sing within the realm of rap…
