Ruins will Rise again... - 4/5
Bristolian melodic metalcore band Ruins Will Rise (RWR) have produced a single that can seem to be off in the view of a worthy follower to the allocated genre. But here at Keith’s Reviews – I set the trend, not follow it. And it’s fair to say that all the laws of the genre can screw themseelves in this song, from the clean guitars straight to the raw and raspy vocals of Dan Smullen, it’s fair to say that this Bristolian quintet have delivered a very moving piece to the masses.
It all begins with a clean and mellow guitar playing by Ben Street and Jac Blythe and an odd drum fill that delivers unwanted build up momentum, before Will Blythe goes into a very slow and gentle drum pattern. Ok, the first fill for me is unnecessary, but the rest of the drumming is top quality, from delivering the peaceful vibe to the rocking underlying rhythm section with bassist Elliot Harrison under the still screaming and raw vocals, which at times can be hard to point out what Dan is trying to yell, but expectations are met with this one particular song with all band members applying tremendously brilliant tactics to make this unsigned band noticed, and just an insight of what we can expect off their upcoming EP which is something that I am looking forward to immensely…
