Something Simple to Remember - 4/5
Being in Essex provides the person to hold reason to believe that the entire nation of that place were created when an Oompa Loompa fell in love with a Wotsit to create odd looking orange beings being delivered by highly embarrassed Storks. But within the heart of this travesty that was enhanced by the trash that we know as “The Only Way is Essex” shines the light of Indie band ‘Something Simple’, who show that Indie. with a nice blend of Rock, can give enlightenment to an area destroyed by idiots on TV.
“Never Found Never Forgotten” opens up with the sweet and melodic sounding “Don’t Forget to Remember” which sounds like a riff that Snow Patrol had given away to be used for better purposes by lead guitarist David Kidd and an exceptionally tight rhythm section from bassist and drummer Phillip Denford and Dave Ward respectively. The mellow indie feel is continued across all four tracks with Richard Poet giving the soothing vocals of a band like this you’d never expect; onto the soulful and beautifully welded “The Reaper”that adds an astonishing solo to the whole piece. It’s all rounded up with “Back in the Day” that I feel shouldn’t really be an outro track due to its blazing blues-rock inspired sound. Overall, an amazing EP which gives you a piece of everything and I cannot wait to hear what else these guys have to give.
